Refelections
LI remember the first time I came to Oyotunji African Village. It was 1970 and I was a little girl from New York.  I remember thinking "this is Africa". It has remained that for me to this day.  It requires you be authentic in your African soul.  It's a bridge home.

About Us

African Theological Arch ministry, Inc. was founded in 1959 in New York City as center for dissemination of knowledge and information about religious traditions of the Yoruba people of Southwest Nigeria, Southern Dahomey, Togo and and regions adjacent to the city of Accra, Ghana. (see map)

The A.T.A.'s activities for 10 years in New York City centered on ordination of priesthood and presentation for ceremonies, chants, preaching, divination and dances dedicated to the Supreme Deity and the deities of the Yoruba people of the aforesaid regions of West Africa.

In 1970 A.T.A. relocated in South Carolina on a small tract of land and dubbed its location as Oyotunji African Village. It became a settlement of persons interested in the study of such cultural traditions.
